Resources & Considerations

We understand that recovering from the recent flash flooding in Hidden Valley is a challenging process. Below are some resources and information to assist you during this time.

Removal of Items/Waste:

  • Waste Management dumpsters will be available on Saturday, Aug. 24 and Saturday, Sept. 7, at the corners of Sumrall Way & E. Hidden Valley Dr. and Mia Vista Dr. & E. Hidden Valley Dr. for home debris disposal. [Refer to flyer provided for details.]Join us for a hidden valley cleanup
  • Excess waste can be placed in 32-gallon bag at the curb with one of the 25 stickers received annually for excess Waste Management collection.
  • Washoe County residential customers, current with their bill, also may dispose of one standard pick-up truckload of waste (3 cubic yards or 4 tires) four times per year at no additional cost at one of the three locations listed here. Present current bill or ID matching the account address.

Financial Considerations:

  • Truckee Meadows Water Authority (TMWA): TMWA has found that even with the additional usage, the impact on the bill ranges from negligible to $20 or $30. If you are concerned about the use of water for cleanup and the impact on your bill, please wait for the bill to arrive so you can gauge the use of water against past usage. If you observe a large increase ($100+ than what your normal bill would be), please reach out to TMWA at 775-834-8074. They will be happy to work with you on a case-by-case basis as they should be able to look at your daily meter reads to help determine what led to this increase.

More details on these resources will be provided as they become available. Thank you for your patience and resilience as we work through this recovery together.
